DIVORCECARE For KIDS (DC4K)
Kids feel scared, sad, and confused during and after their parents divorce. They know their parents have been hurt deeply. As a result, they may hide their feelings because they are worried about a parent's happiness or because they do not know how to express their feelings appropriately. At Engage Boise, we are here to provide the support kids are needing. Our non-denominational DivorceCare for Kids (DCK4) support group meets weekly to help kids process feelings and to give them tools to communicate better with their parents.
Each session is filled with motivating and exciting activities. Games, crafts, role playing, discussion times, journaling, and activity books help children process the divorce and move forward in their lives. The music, snacks, read-aloud stories, exercises, and Bile verses teach children to relax and rest secure in God's love. DC4K is designed for kids 5-12 years of age. Our incredible DC4K Safekeepers (leaders) have experienced divorce from a variety of perspectives ranging from their own parents' divorce to seeing their children divorce. As a result they are able to relate to the struggles children have and are able to offer them help, hope, and encouragement.
